Excerpt: But as Elizabeth told him merrily, adventures required sacrifice.
Sometimes the two of them walk the grounds of Pemberly alone, her hand held carelessly in his grip. The two Darcy's walk until they can walk no more, collapsing idly into the reeds or the grass of the rolling farmland. It was something Mr. Darcy would never have considered, pre-marriage-- grass stains were hard to get out of clothing, after all. But as Elizabeth told him merrily, adventures required sacrifice.
Sometimes, mischievously, she lays back in the tall grass and says that farmhands and young maidens copulate out here in the grass, as close to nature as a thin bed of clothing permits, and he wonders if she is suggesting what he thinks she is suggesting, but he never asks.
Instead, the master of Pemberly takes his wife back to their room and lays her down on the wide double bed, and shows her how the well-to-do copulate, and she always says with a laugh that she likes it better.
