Excerpt: Clow worried-- too much, Yuuko always said-- about interrupting someone else's causality.
"We really can't keep meeting like this," she drawled, twirling her skits in the manner of a native. Eyes popped at the hint of lacy ankle. No matter where she went, Yuuko stood out.
Clow worried-- too much, Yuuko always said-- about interrupting someone else's causality. He was dancing across from her, matching her steps, and he was the picture of a gentleman. No one would suspect that his origin was in fact a few dimensions over.
He suspected sometimes that Yuuko was from somewhere further away than the dimension they shared, but she always laughed and dismissed his suspicions. "Further back," she once whispered, and his childhood dreams of a garnet-eyed woman came to mind. He tried not to ask after that.
She twirled her skirts and he put a chaste hand on her waist. He moved smoothly in the steps and they danced. She winked at him in a manner much too forward for women in this dimension.
"You're breaking character," he hissed as though this were a play. She grinned.
"I got what I needed here," she said, lifting a hand to the ivory broach pinned in her hair. "Wanna go home?"
"We aren't married, it wouldn't be proper to leave together," Clow whispered in return, but a grin spilled across his face. The other dancers were beginning to look at them curiously, to ask amongst themselves where the strangers had come from and who had invited them.
He took her hand and they slipped away. They were gossip fodder for weeks.
