Rose always called them her sisters. Once they had been an army, but now they were family. Of course Greg wanted to meet them, because he wanted to know everything about Rose. She'd lived centuries of a life he'd never understand, but he could do this, at least: he could meet her family.
Pearl was sharp and Amethyst was loud and Garnet was terrifyingly silent. They didn't laugh at anything he said except the things that weren't supposed to be funny. They all watched him chew and ate nothing.
"They love you," Rose said, and he wanted to believe her.
