Sometimes Syaoran felt like the third wheel.

He walked behind the girls on the way to the park, half-listening to their conversation about the movie the three of them had seen the night before. It had given Tomoyo costume ideas, of course, and she was trying to convince Sakura to stage something she could videotape. Syaoran knew that Sakura would eventually give in, but she was still in the protest stage at the moment, and couldn't be distracted by holding her boyfriend's hand.

He walked behind them lazily and watched as Tomoyo flattered Sakura, and the way her eyes sparkled, and wondered why it had taken so long for him to realize that Tomoyo cared for Sakura in the same way that he did.

She'd given him good advice, and shown that she knew the way that Sakura thought, and then she had ignored her own advice. Girls... who understood them?

He caught up with the girls and joined in their conversation, and as he looked from the face of the girl that he loved to the girl whom he confided in, he was happy. The three of them worked so well together.

If sometimes he felt like a third wheel, Syaoran thought, then maybe this friendship they shared was a tricycle.
