Summary/Notes/Warnings: Pre-canon. Nadeshiko never stopped learning, even after she married. And she loved to share with her husband, especially exotic foreign languages.
Just because she got married at sixteen didn't mean Nadeshiko stopped learning. With a modeling career she had learned to improvise schooling through tutors and online classes. She started it full-time after she married, so that Fujitaka wouldn't have to leave his job. Obviously, it wouldn't do for him to teach his wife, would it?
He came home after the first day of school feeling accomplished. There had been no major screw-ups with classes today, or mischievous students. They didn't seem like bad kids, really.
He walked in the door and Nadeshiko waved at him cheerfully from the kitchen. Her smile invited an unconscious one of his own, like it always did. Who could see Nadeshiko's bright grin and resist one themselves?
"Ai rofu yuu," she said, or so he thought. It didn't make any sense. He walked into the kitchen as she turned the stove off. She set the pot on the table and giggled.
"I'm not any good at it yet. Maybe I should have waited, but I wanted to surprise you!"
"Hmm?" he asked. She blushed a little like she was embarrassed and reached out and took his hand. Then she pulled back and turned around in a circle, just for fun. She was like that. He laughed and waited for her to explain herself.
"I'm taking English this semester," she said finally. "Just for fun. So many interesting things come out of the United States, you know?"
"Yes?" he said, still not seeing where this was going. She loved the confused expression he always seemed to have with her. Sometimes it was like he was afraid that someone was going to sweep in and take her away, since he wasn't impressed with his own redeeming qualities. She knew that wouldn't happen, but she did adore that quizzical grin.
"So today we started simple sentences, and that was one of them," she said. She leaned forward and placed her palm on his cheek. "I love you," she said in Japanese, and then repeated the strange English words the best she could. "Ai rofu yuu!"
He couldn't resist her any longer and swept her into his arms, enjoying how small and trusting she felt grasping his forearms for balance as he picked her up and set her on the kitchen counter, ignoring dinner.
"Ai rofu yuu," he repeated carefully and she nodded. He leaned forward and softly kissed along her neck until she began to giggle and push away. He leaned back to look into her eyes and asked playfully, "So how do the English ever get around to making love when they have to say that mouthful?"
She laughed brightly and he picked her up, kissing her forehead, and headed towards the stairs.
"But I made dinner!" she protested. Not that that was much, she was a horrible cook, though she did try very hard. He ran his lips along her neck again and said, "That's what microwaves are for, ne?"
She hummed in pleasure and agreed, and the pair settled in to another evening of wedded bliss.
