Summary: Nadeshiko lived to love, and love was her life. Fifty sentences about Fugitaka, their romance, and their family.

01. Move
It was almost funny that Nadeshiko was so beautiful, but didn't move with attendant grace (a fact which Sonomi and Fugitaka would both attest to, with a sigh and a smile).

02. Sleep
She was always falling asleep in strange places-- busses, train stations, movie theaters-- but it was Fugitaka's fault, really, because where he was, she was home.

03. Inspire
Her little fall into his arms inspired some terrible poetry (she didn't see it until they were three years married, and she cleaning closets, but it made her giggle).

04. Sweat
She wouldn't hesitate to sweat, to stick it out, if something needed to be done for the people she loved.

05. Lovely
"A movie would be lovely!" Nadeshiko said, and Fugitaka was too taken by her smile to worry about the consequences of dating his student.

06. Breathe
Her breathing trailed off slowly until it stopped, and Fugitaka covered his face with his hands.

07. Rough
He felt like such a rough man around her, because she was so fragile, but she smiled and said he was terribly gentle.

08. Strike
The fact that he was interested in her was the first strike against him, according to Sonomi; the second was their marriage, and the third her death, of course (game over).

09. Help
He didn't have anyone to ask for help when he was picking out her ring, but her small intake of breath when she saw it made him sure of his choice.

It would be easier to resist a hurricane than it was to resist Nadeshiko.

11. Meet
"It wasn't like I went to class that day expecting to meet my true love," he said, holding her (but she had known, somehow in her bones, and took special care with her hair that morning).

On their first date, he was wound tightly as a bowstring, but she knew Mr. Kinomoto wasn't really that stuffy.

He was never free of his thirst for her, and the portraits in the end did her no justice.

When all four of them were together, that was everything to her.

The first time she slipped into a fog it worried him.

They thought they were happy before, but Touya and Sakura changed everything.

On Saturday mornings, they would ride bicycles in the park; it was just the two of them, crisp morning air, and the soft round sound of cycle wheels.

A pregnant woman glows, or so they say, but she glowed all the time and it was honestly a surprise to him.

There was nothing that could keep them apart, she told the shinigami who came to take her ghost away, and they let her stay.

24. Wonder
Touya was a miracle, a new living being who had sprung forth from her with his own personality and self, and it was always a wonder to her.

25. Scold
Touya couldn't stand even her most gentle scolding, so when she asked him to watch over his sister, he was committed.

26. Figure
She had a girlish figure, even when pregnant, and Sonomi didn't even notice until she was almost eight months along (why didn't you tell me? ...oh, I forgot).

Sakura didn't really remember how things were back then, when her mother was alive, but the best photos her father had were from after they were married.

They didn't lie to Touya when she was getting sick, but it was one of the hardest truths Fugitaka had to tell (the hardest: the reason he came home from the hospital alone the last time).

He wasn't hunting for a wife, but sometimes the fish jumps right into the boat.

Nadeshiko didn't make mistakes with people: he was the one.

31. Birth
She never told Fugitaka about the dark-haired woman on the street (hooded garnet eyes, a loose kimono) who predicted Sakura's birth.

He thought she had cut herself when he saw the blood on her hand, but she had simply wiped her mouth after she coughed.

33. Double
Two children meant double happiness to Nadeshiko (later, it meant that one could take care of the other after she was gone).

34. Cover
She thought about covering up her illness for Sonomi's sake, but in the end she couldn't lie to dear Sonomi.

35. Lick
She always licked her ice cream cone like a child.

36. Wheel
The wheel on the gurney broke when they were putting her on it the last time, and it gave Fugitaka a worse feeling than it should have.

37. Slight
Even her slightest cough makes him bolt awake at night to check her breathing; he barely sleeps, but she barely lives, and that's what's most important.

The other teachers were scandalized by his "fling with a student," but it wasn't just a fling and his head was too much in the clouds for him to notice their disapproval.

He couldn't remember what their first fight was about, but he remembered how many times he said he was sorry (nineteen).

Sometimes Sonomi calls, and if Fugitaka answers, she hangs up, but the day after the funeral she says, "I hate you," instead, and he says, "I miss her too."

The side jewels on her ring were emerald, matching her eyes, and they seemed to shine more brightly after he put it on her hand.

42. Fruit
She always peeled the skin off of oranges in one long strip; it surprised Fugitaka when he came upon Touya using the same technique six years later.

43. House
It was only a house until she moved in; now it was a home, and he'd never leave.

44. Swim
She wasn't very good at swimming, but the sputtering and choking was worth it when he caught her up in his strong arms (his clothes were soaked, but she was safe).

45. Family
Her family had doted on her and now she doted on her family (it seemed like a fair trade).

46. Interest
Who would have thought they would share an interest in Egyptian history, and that a lunch date for the discussion thereof would lead to these vows?

47. Record
He did his best to record her essence in photographs and videos (like Tomoyo would later, he would realize that there was no substitute for that real smile).

48. Glass
She told him that his eyes were even more striking when he took his glasses off, and kissed his eyelids.

49. Shape
Her personality was shaped like the sun-- round, bright, life-giving.

50. Live
She would be waiting to greet him at the end of his life, because she lived to love and she saw no reason to stop after she was dead.
