[Glee] look at your life, look at your choices (Kurt & Tina gen)

Title: look at your life, look at your choices
Fandom: Glee
Length: 329 words
Prompt: [livejournal.com profile] glee_anon: Tina, sassy gay friend
Pairing: Kurt and Tina gen; mentions of Artie/Tina and Mike/Tina
Other: Dorky pop-culture references.

Excerpt: "You look as fine as Finn did on the day they discontinued cheesesteak in the cafeteria. Look, I have something to tell you. Let me be your Sassy Gay Friend."

Kurt drops into the chair beside Tina, and Tina twitches in surprise. She'd been lost in thought and hadn't expected any company; without even thinking about it, she glances up the risers to where Kurt usually sits with Mercedes. Quinn is in his usual place. She looks back at Kurt, who is frowning a little.

"My girls can take care of themselves," he says, "but you look like you need the company."

"I'm fine," Tina says, but she doesn't sound convincing, even to herself. She very pointedly doesn't look at Artie and Mike, sitting on opposite sides of the room while she's left in the middle. Kurt rolls his eyes.

"You look as fine as Finn did on the day they discontinued cheesesteak in the cafeteria. Look, I have something to tell you. Let me be your Sassy Gay Friend."

Despite herself, Tina giggles. She loves those videos, and once had a lengthy discussion with Artie about whether Kurt would wear that scarf.

"The man has an ugly scarf but he does have a point. What, what, what are you doing?" he mimicks, and then he changes to his normal tones. "You don't need those boys to be happy. You are completely amazing how you are, and much more mature than both of them. Especially Artie." He rolls his eyes. "He needs to sing "What It Feels Like for a Girl" a few more times. Sometimes I am sorry for you ladies."

"...I know," Tina says, and she sighs. "I really liked them, though."

"You know what you'll like, Tee? College boys." He grins. "Just give it some time. Do you want to come over tonight? Mercedes and Quinn and I are watching Chicago. It was going to be all the girls, but Brittany and Santana are catfighting again and we had to un-invite Rachel after she insisted on making Funny Girl a sing-along last week."

"Sure," Tina says, nodding, and it doesn't hurt that much to smile back.
