[Polychromatic] Fear the Fangirl with a Sword (Konata and Syaoran gen)

Title: Fear the Fangirl with a Sword
Fandom: [livejournal.com profile] polychromatic
Length: 355 words
Prompt: Given two characters, write them as a weapon/meister pair (as in Soul Eater): Konata and Syaoran for [livejournal.com profile] marginoferror
Pairing: Konata and Syaoran gen
Other: Could probably work as a curse day thing? Otherwise just a dorky AU. No real knowledge of Soul Eater required.

Excerpt: Look. You can't just... swing me around like that, Syaoran said.

Look. You can't just... swing me around like that, Syaoran said in that peculiar way he had of communication when he was in weapon form. Odd communication methods or not, Konata didn't appear to be listening. She had that gleam in her eye that he had learned to step away from. However, stepping away was not an option here.

"It's just like the show!" she exclaimed, and tried another experimental slash.

My blade is really sharp, Syaoran continued, and you haven't had much training yet.

"So, do we get to take down monsters? Do we? When?"

Syaoran sighed heavily and transformed with a jerk, light pouring out of Konata's hands and into the shape of a shaggy-haired Chinese boy. He crossed his arms and looked at her.

"Witches," he informed her. "We get to take down dangerous witches. But not until you're ready. I'd teach you myself, but obviously that isn't going to work. We have to practice our resonance as well as our fighting."

"Resonance?"

"How well we bond together, as a pair of fighters." Syaoran mumbled something under his breath about Sakura, who was currently wielding Mokona, but Konata was caught up again in dreams of glory that strongly resembled the end-stages of various RPGs.

"We can already resonate to some degree, because we can partner, but if we're not really good at it then we're going to get ourselves killed." He looked at her sternly. Konata nodded.

"All right, let's try this again," he said, and without any more warning than that, a sword was heavy in Konata's hands-- but not too heavy. Something about the crackle of energy in her hands made it easier to wield. It reminded her of the feeling of a limb falling asleep-- prickly and warm-- but utterly right, somehow.

If you swing a sword, swing it with purpose, Syaoran said, and she gave it a try. This time he didn't correct her immediately. Maybe they could work this out.

For the last time, I have no idea what "Soul Eater is, he said to her, and Konata just smiled.
