The first thing that Ivy says when she enters Molly's apartment is, "I shouldn't be doing this." Her voice is even and flat, like usual, and Molly doesn't pay attention to it.

"Probably not, but you're here," she says cheerfully, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "Are you ready?"

"You're seven years older than my physical body and I am still, as they say, "jailbait,"" Ivy continues. She adjusts the bodice of her dress, looking away from Molly and blushing just a little. In that moment she looks like the seventeen-year-old that she is, physically, rather than the manifestation of all written knowledge.

"I won't tell if you won't tell," Molly says. She's only a couple inches taller than Ivy is, now, with green streaks in her hair and just one stud in her lip. She came out after she finally realized that being in love with Harry was an excuse, not a goal. Her parents took it pretty well. She wonders when Ivy realized. She hadn't kept a diary, knowing Charity would find it, but she wrote it down sometimes, scribbling on the edges of old school assignments before she threw them away. Ivy would have known that, wouldn't she?

"I am going to have to tell," Ivy says gravely. "I am the Archive, after all, and this may affect my relationship with the magical communities."

Molly shrugs. "All right." She offers Ivy a hand. The smaller girl takes it, and after a moment of hesitation, squeezes.

"I'm not really sure why you picked me," Ivy says after a moment, for once sounding like a teenage girl.

Molly reaches out and brushes Ivy's cheek with her free hand. "I think you could have some fun once you let yourself. You're sweet. Harry sees something in you, and he's-- well, he's pretty good at being wrong, but not usually with stuff like this."

"His strength is in interpersonal relationships," Ivy agrees. She catches Molly's other hand and holds it in front of her so that for a moment they look like a normal couple about to go out together.

"I like your dress," Ivy says. Molly pulls Ivy gently toward the door. She brushes a kiss to Ivy's hairline.

"I like you," she answers.

"You wrote it down," Ivy says. Molly nods.

"I did. So, how do you feel about sushi?" Molly asks.

"I've never--"

"We'll figure it out," she interrupts, opening the door and then locking it behind them. Kincaid is leaning back against the wall, eyes shut, a small smile playing across his lips. Molly scowls.

"Gotta have a bodyguard," he rumbles, opening his eyes. "You know who she is."

"Don't be upset, Molly. It is necessary," Ivy says, squeezing Molly's hand again.

Molly kilts her hip to one side. "You're not watching," she says to him. The smile broadens a little. He lifts a hand in concession.

"From a distance," he says. Molly narrows her eyes, but then Ivy is pulling on her hand, and she wants to beat the traffic in the city. So she lets it go.

If it comes down to it, she figures she can do a pretty stellar invisibility spell, anyway.
