[House] Tolerable (Wilson gen)
Title: Tolerable

Prompt: Transfic Mini-Fest: House MD, mtf!Wilson, she's pleased to note that House is no less intolerable
Pairing: Wilson gen
Other: mtf!Wilson; trans issues.
Excerpt: House and Wilson had weathered a lot together over the years. Wilson could laugh at herself, in fact, from the way she'd thought once that nothing could be worse than the circumstances under which they'd met.
House and Wilson had weathered a lot together over the years. Wilson could laugh at herself, in fact, from the way she'd thought once that nothing could be worse than the circumstances under which they'd met.
Of course, she'd realized, that had only been the beginning. Fraud and jail (again), death and hallucinations and mental hospitals... Why was she even hesitating now to tell him about her transition? She'd drugged House, been drugged by House, done everything, she thought, except married House, and sometimes she wasn't sure that wouldn't be in their future, simply because they'd done everything else.
True to form, House barely paused before he started in with the invasive questions and transphobic teasing. Wilson smiled; she grinned and blinked away sudden tears while House mocked them as a sign of her weak womanhood.
But he believed her. He didn't care. He simply added sexual harassment to his usual abuses as he watched his best friend traded slacks for skirts and-- well, perhaps the politest metaphor Wilson had heard from him for the surgery, traded the shovel for the hole.
She even found herself snapping at him again after a while. Nothing important had changed. House was still a jerk, unorthodox, and amused by his own childish antics. She became very good at smacking him for various offenses. (It was really the only thing that made him stop, and despite Cuddy's best efforts, Wilson always refused to pursue a lawsuit.)
House's hand brushed her thigh and Wilson kicked him (in his good shin) with one sharp heel. She had a client to meet, anyway, so abandoned House to his patient vomiting blood.
She shared the elevator with Cameron, who always seemed a little surprised to see her now, though cautious in her political correctness. "You seem happy," Cameron said. Wilson smiled.
"I am," she answered.
