Summary: Syaoran muses on happiness and his children on the night that his youngest gets married. Incredibly fluffy/saptastic.
I resisted telling her the story, even though if there was ever a time for it, it would be now, while everyone else was being sappy. Instead, I just held her (she was still so small, even if I could remember the time when I could hold her in one hand) and we danced, and she didn't protest too much when I stepped on her foot. When the song ended, her eyes were shining.
"I love you, Dad," she said, and I nodded thank you.
Later I told my wife the story instead. She knew it by heart, of course, but she still loved to hear it.
"When we fell in love, it was like a fairy-tale romance. Fate drew us together, and even if we argued when we met, it was inevitable. At sixteen, our oldest met the girl he eventually married, looking into her eyes and recognizing the work of fate. The middle child was only fourteen when she saw forever reflected in that other girl's eyes. And she might have waited longest, but our youngest found someone to love the most, just like her parents did, and we could never deny anyone the great happiness we share."
"I miss her," Sakura said, and I nodded and let her curl her body against mine. The years had been kind, like fate had been kind, and I still considered her the most beautiful girl in the world. It was hard to believe that our children had gone out already to find their own happiness, though Li's do seem to grow up before their time.
I held my wife close and thanked fate for her, and for my children, and for the cards that, though destructive, led me to the greatest happiness of my life.
