[Time Traveler's Wife] Recurring (Alba gen)

Title: Recurring
Fandom: Time Traveler's Wife (book)
Length: 184 words
Prompt: Three-Sentence Fic-a-thon: Time Traveler's Wife, Alba, her first time
Pairing: Alba gen; Henry/Clare
Other: PG for discussion of death.

Excerpt: The first time she sees her father die, she's only three and she thinks it must be a dream.

The first time she sees her father die, she's only three and she thinks it must be a dream-- she's had dreams before where she forgot to get dressed, so this must be it, it must be-- and when she wakes (when she goes back to her own time), she runs to her father and sobs and sobs but cannot tell him why.

By the time her mother gives her the tapes her father made, she's seen him die twice more, once in her own time, and once when he was in the hospital, before he came home with the drugs and the long face and missing feet; and no matter how many times she sees it, she knows it won't get any easier.

So the first time the doctor asks her if she'd like to try the medication, she nods, serious and standing straight and all of ten years old, and Clare looks at her, squeezes her hand, bites her lip, and nods too (because last week Alba told her the when she'd visited, and it had taken them both an hour to stop crying).
