Sakura didn't notice that Yue was gone right away. After all, with the number of guests that she had to keep track of, she'd already lost her own husband a number of times. She had a moment's pause between listening to a Li's story (she thought it was one of her new cousins, perhaps, but she was having trouble with names) and before she could be caught up with someone else, she noticed her brother sitting alone.

Yukito had been doing a wonderful job of making Touya behave and not grump too much about losing his sister to "that brat." Alone, Touya was still being good, which made her thankful, but he also seemed almost lonely. She made her way to him, and when he didn't look up to meet her eyes immediately, she stepped on his foot-- but because it was her wedding day, and she was very happy, it was a gentle stomp.

"Hey monster," he said, mouth quirking with a half-smile. "Give it some time before you try for little half-monsters, okay? I need some time to build my defenses."

"Onii-chan!" she said, scowling for a moment before dissolving into laughter. She just couldn't be unhappy today. He smiled a little too, leaning up to ruffle her hair.

"Where did Yukito-san go?" she asked curiously. Touya's brow furrowed.

"He said he needed a breath of air." Touya lifted his eyebrows. He meant that Yue had wanted some space. Sakura nodded.

"I'll find him," she said, leaning down to kiss her brother on the cheek. "Thank you for coming, Onii-chan."

"Of course I was going to come!" he said indignantly. "Do you really think I'd miss my own sister's wedding?"

She smiled. "Of course not. I'll bring Yukito-san and Yue-san back with me, all right?"

"All right," Touya said, nodding, and he glanced around for a moment, his expression pained. "If I have to dance with another one of that brat's sisters, my feet are going to fall off."

Sakura snickered and made her way out of the ballroom and into the hallway, which was empty, lit only by the sconces turned low on the walls. She shut her eyes and concentrated for a moment, tuning out the background magic. It had been very kind of Eriol to offer his old mansion to have her wedding. Even though he rarely visited them in Japan, he had maintained it well-- possibly due to the memories of Clow he still had. It made her feel warm to be here again.

Clow's signature, and Eriol's, lay all over the place, but their magic was different enough from Yue's that she could pick his aura out. She made her way up the stairs and found him in his true form, sans wings, leaning against the balcony that Yukito had nearly fallen from all those years before.

"Mistress," he said, turning when she opened the door, and she smiled at him.

"Why are you all alone up here?" Sakura asked. "Onii-chan misses you. He keeps having to dance with Syaoran's sisters." She giggled.

Yue stared at her, expressionless as always, and then he lowered head. "I was just thinking," he said quietly.

She drew closer to her guardian, ignoring the chill in the night air. He always seemed slightly uncomfortable when they were standing close and it wasn't a combat situation. Those sort of things, he left to Yukito. And while Sakura loved Yukito as a member of her family, she was still trying to convince Yue that she felt the same way about him. It might take a while, but she wasn't giving up.

"You know I'm not going anywhere, right?" she said, reaching for his cold hands and cradling them in hers. His eyes widened with surprise, but he allowed the touch. "I'm not going to be living with Father anymore, but I'll still be your friend. And your mistress. I'll be here. And so will Onii-chan." She let him go and waited for his answer.

Yue nodded. "I know." His face softened just a little. "I should congratulate you, shouldn't I?"

She smiled brightly. "Thank you, Yue-san. That means a lot to me."

"It is good that the Mistress is happy," he said very softly. Then he shut his eyes and lifted from the ground, enveloping himself in his wings. When Yukito emerged, blinking, he looked around himself in slight bemusement.

"Yue was giving me my wedding present," she said to him, and Yukito broke into one of his usual bright smiles.

"That's wonderful!" he said, offering her his arm, and the three of them went back inside.
