Kinomoto Touya liked control, because in his life he had very little. He liked his bedroom arranged just so and practices that fell on the same days every week and the chore calendar without any alterations. Everything had a routine. He didn't let go of that constant in his life.

When Touya was ten, he watched his mother die, helpless to stop her. His sister cried and wouldn't be comforted. He begged and prayed and screamed in his head, but it didn't change anything. He couldn't control death, but he couldn't let go of her.

She asked him to take care of Sakura, and that kept him together through the next cold days. He had a goal. He had someone to take care of. He dropped karate to babysit after school, picking her up every day after day care and holding her hand as they walked home. Later, he rode slowly on his bicycle so she could follow along. He was okay as long as he had control over this. He could fulfill this responsibility.

And then she turned ten and strange things started happening. She was sleepy all the time and he heard the branches outside the house rustle late at night. Worst of all, he couldn't figure out what was going on. The plush toy was suspicious, and the Chinese kid, but neither of them dropped information (not that a plush toy could, of course, but the Chinese boy was almost as talkative as it was).

And then he found out what had been going on and what his sister had been facing without his help and guidance. He felt like a failure.

When his world walked away, her hand in Syaoran's, Yukito was there to help him deal with it. He even suggested that they adopt a child.

Touya shook his head. He couldn't imagine letting go again.
