Christmas Is For (Tomoyo/Meiling)
Title: Christmas Is For
Fandom: Cardcaptor Sakura
Length: 316 words
Prompt: Christmas card fic for
starlightfairy2
Pairing: Tomoyo/Meiling established
Other: Kinda oddly angsty?
Excerpt: She found Tomoyo leaning against the sink in the kitchen, coffee cup in hand and gazing out the window. She was leaning up on the sink just a little, painted stark white by the moonlight.
Meiling wasn't unfamiliar with an empty bed. After all, Tomoyo traveled a lot for the company, and Meiling visited Hong Kong by herself on occasion. But she had missed her girlfriend enough in the weeks before Christmas (such a busy holiday season) that she came half-awake when Tomoyo got up in the middle of the night, slipping quietly from the room.
Meiling figured that Tomoyo had gone to the bathroom, but after she'd dozed for half an hour, she roused herself enough to follow.
She found Tomoyo leaning against the sink in the kitchen, coffee cup in hand and gazing out the window. She was leaning up on the sink just a little, painted stark white by the moonlight. Her nightshirt was riding up her hips and Meiling was struck, once again, by the realization that she was in love with the more beautiful woman in the entire world.
She turned when Meiling came into the kitchen, hearing the footsteps, and her brow furrowed.
"I didn't mean to wake you."
Meiling shrugged. She poured herself a mug and joined Tomoyo at the sink, reaching up to brush some of the frost from the window. It was snowing, she could see through the blurry glass.
"My mother didn't usually have a date for Christmas, so I was her date, she always said." Tomoyo smiled. She lifted a hand warm from her coffee cup and pressed a finger to Meiling's lips.
"I'll be your date," Meiling said. "But we should go visit your mom today anyway."
She wrapped her arms around Tomoyo, setting her coffee on the counter, and the two of them watched the snowfall, as the night ticked over to Christmas.
"I'd like that," Tomoyo said, leaning back into Meiling with a sigh. When they finally slipped back to bed, Meiling was certainly not alone.
When they showed up on her doorstep later, Sonomi wasn't either.
