Waves (Touya/Kaho)
Title: Waves
Fandom: Cardcaptor Sakura
Length: 243
Prompt: Touya/Kaho: the way their relationship works, and then the way it doesn't for
mellowcandle
Pairing: Touya/Kaho
Other: Experimental poetic style.
Excerpt: It works because he remembers-- he knows where he's going, he knows where he's been, he knows who she is (sometimes better than she does).
i. tide in
It works because she knows him; she's known him for it seems like forever, though prudence says it's only been a week. It works because he remembers-- he knows where he's going, he knows where he's been, he knows who she is (sometimes better than she does). She can put her hand on his heart and feel his heartbeat speed up, feel all of the things that heart contains, and know that it is beautiful how much he loves Sakura and how much he has to give someone, someday (a shadowy thing that she hasn't felt the edges of yet, but there is the bell ringing through the darkness).
ii. tide out
It works because they fit and then it stops working because they fit too well-- there is simple agreement and there is love in that, but they are two old souls binding themselves together in a manner that is almost unhealthy. It might have worked, just the same-- one day, a baby on her arm, one day, a moon angel at their side (that part of Touya's destiny could never change, though the way it worked through could have been different, Eriol saw it). But in the end, the killer was simply hitsuzen, a force that didn't care what it ripped apart or moved, because its purpose was change, and change is neither good nor evil, no matter how much it hurts. Destiny pulled them apart, but some part of them would always pull together.
