Excerpt: He was resting in the window well, face turned up to catch the winter sun.
He was resting in the window well, face turned up to catch the winter sun. At times like this, relaxed, Yue looked even less human than he was. When he heard Clow's measured step, he opened one cat-like eye.
"Tired?" Clow asked. A silly question, really, since Yue had no need for sleep.
"Not really," the guardian answered with a ruffle of feathers. Clow approached, looking out the window himself before resting a hand on Yue's head, absently combing his fingers through the silk of Yue's hair. Yue shut his eyes again. Suddenly Clow laughed. Yue looked at him.
"I was just thinking how much you're like a cat, Yue," he said, grinning.
Yue frowned in puzzlement. "Surely Cerberus--"
Clow ruffled his hair gently. "Deeper than that," he said.
"Oh?"
But no answer appeared forthcoming. Clow continued to stroke Yue's hair. Yue leaned into his master's touch.
"I should make a cat with wings," Clow said dreamily. Yue snorted. Clow was full of non sequiturs and silly ideas. Ninety percent of them never went further than the original conception.
"Yue? Are you taking a nap again? Yue?" Cerberus called down the hallway plaintively. "Let's go play in the snow!"
Yue's serene expression melted. He looked at Clow, and Clow just laughed again.
"Cat-like," he said, before calling back to the other guardian, "we should build a snow Cerberus, don't you think?"
The guardian bounded joyfully down the hall toward them.
"Let's, let's!" he said, nudging Clow in the side. "Are you coming, Yue?"
"Mph," Yue said in negation, trying to ignore his brother's enthusiasm.
"More snow for us," Clow said, cutting off Cerberus's protests, and the two of them left Yue to his afternoon sun-bath.
