Waiting Games (Koryuu/Kohaku)
Title: Waiting Games
Fandom: Wish
Length: 374 words
Prompt:
clampanonmeme: What did Koryuu do for 100 years waiting for Kohaku?
Pairing: Kokuyo/Hisui, slight Koryuu/Kohaku (like canon)
Other: n/a
Excerpt: "Privacy," he growled, slamming the door in Koryuu's face. The demon sighed. Kokuyo had been so much cooler before he'd fallen in love. What a drag.
Koryuu the demon was really, really bored.
He pranked the humans and he played with Ruri and Hari and he hovered around Kokuyo and Hisui until Kokuyo threatened him with dismemberment.
"Privacy," he growled, slamming the door in Koryuu's face. The demon sighed. Kokuyo had been so much cooler before he'd fallen in love. What a drag.
Koryuu looked at the moon and counted in his head. 99 years, 11 months, and six days to go. He didn't need Kohaku to have a good time, anyway. She was just an annoying bubblebutt angel.
99 years, 11 months, six days. This would be easy.
*
"Go away," Hisui said, smiling as she shut the door firmly.
"But--" Koryuu protested to the wood. He flexed his fingers. He could burn his way through the wood, no problem.
Of course, then Kokuyo would skin him alive. And that angel bitch would probably help. Smiling.
99 years, ten months, fourteen days.
*
His training might have gone faster if he'd bothered to study or concentrate, but he was a demon from Hell, after all.
The first day he was able to maintain his true form through the whole day, he went to Kohaku's tree and stuck a fingernail into it.
"Better than you, bubblehead," he said confidently. "Just wait until you wake up again."
He scratched his name into the trunk. There were still 45 years, eight months, and twenty days.
"Stupid slowpoke Shuichiro," he muttered to himself.
*
Ruri and Hari purred. Koryuu stroked them absently. Hisui sipped her tea.
"Kohaku is waking up tomorrow," she said calmly. Koryuu bristled.
"Why do I care what that stupid angel does?"
Kokuyo grinned. Then, deliberately, he winked and pulled Hisui closer.
"Suit yourself," he said.
"We were going to go visit," Hisui said. "After she met Shuichiro again, of course."
"Pssch," Koryuu snorted. "All that fuss over a stupid human. And it's going to happen all over again in a few decades."
"A shame that she didn't fall in love with someone else, isn't it, Koryuu?" Kokuyo said, still grinning.
"It's romantic," Hisui said, smiling at her demon.
"Maybe I'll come," Koryuu muttered. Ruri and Hari purred loudly.
Zero years, zero months, one day. It had positively flown by. He'd swear to that.
