Prompt: [livejournal.com profile] clampanonmeme: Holitsuba staff meeting with Kurogane, Fai, Yuui, Seishirou, Yuuko, and any other characters.

Excerpt: "Oh, you're all here!" Yuuko said cheerfully, her voice emerging through the window before she did. Kurogane blinked. He was sure he'd shut that when he came in.

Staff meetings always started late. This was one instance in which Yuuko-sensei was utterly predictable. Time existed for other people, Kurogane thought sourly. She made up her own.

"Why so glum, Kuro-pon?"

"You look depressed, Kuro-kyon!"

There was barely a pause between their exclamations. Kurogane looked up into identical smiles and resisted the urge to groan. They were positively chipper, which was ridiculous. Why didn't Fai and Yuui mind waiting on the Chairwoman?

"I think Kurogane-sensei is simply eager to begin the meeting," Seishirou said smoothly from his corner of the room. The doctor was sitting as far from everyone else as possible, leaning back in his chair with a small smile playing across his lips.

Kurogane would never admit it, but something about Seishirou creeped him out more than the twin teachers ever would. Perhaps it was his obsession.

"I saw Subaru-kun four times after PE this week," the school doctor continued with barely a pause. He pulled a cigarette from his pocket, considered it for a moment, and then put it back. Even if Yuuko-sensei didn't mind, there were rules.

"Kid has no stamina," Kurogane said shortly.

"Oh, you're all here!" Yuuko said cheerfully, her voice emerging through the window before she did. Kurogane blinked. He was sure he'd shut that when he came in.

"We were just waiting on the most lovely one," Fai replied smoothly.

"We can't have a meeting without our beautiful Chairwoman," Yuui cut in.

Twins. Why did they have so many sets of twins at Holitsuba? Kurogane would never understand.

"But of course!" Yuuko said. She adjusted her glasses and settled into her chair. Then she clapped her hands in excitement. "All right, let's talk about festival preparations!"

It was Kurogane's secret belief that Yuuko saw teaching as a hobby meant only to preoccupy the time between festivals. No other school around had so many, all done so elaborately.

"Sorata-sensei, Arashi-sensei, you'll handle the building of the set, then. Fuuma-sensei, the costumes."

Kurogane tuned back in, sensing imminent danger. "Huh?"

"For the talent show, Kuro-pii!" Fai said, his eyes sparkling just as Yuui's and Yuuko's were. On Kurogane's personal danger radar, this rated nine of ten.

"Could be fun," Seishirou ventured from his corner.

Ten of ten.

"I don't have any talents," Kurogane said swiftly.

"The children will perform," Yuuko said. "But if a teacher wanted to--"

Kurogane shook his head, to the keen disappointment of the Fluorite blondes.

"We could sing a duet--" one brother said.

"We could share a part!" the other one said to the first.

"Wonderful idea!" the first said.

"Innovative!" Yuuko chimed in, glasses gleaming.

Kurogane buried his face in his hands, and that's when a polite knock sounded at the door.

"Excuse me, Yuuko-sensei," Sakura said, poking her head into the room tentatively, "but there's something... stalking around the biology lab, and it was, er, growling at the door..."

All eyes turned to the biology teacher. Clow-sensei tried to look innocent.

"He's a softy, really," Clow tried. Someone screamed in the distance.

Kurogane sighed. He really hated staff meetings.
