Composed: five times Syaoran dreamed (Syaoran/Sakura)
Title: Composed: five times Syaoran dreamed
Fandom: Cardcaptor Sakura/Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle
Length: 361 words
Prompt: Five times Syaoran dreamed for
suppis_tenshi
Pairing: (CCS)Syaoran/Sakura
Other: TRC crossover in #3, #5
Excerpt: The day Eriol left, Syaoran dreamed of Clow. The man stretched impossibly tall against the starry dreamscape. He wore the same smile Eriol did, the one Syaoran had found so infuriating.
i. nocturne
The first time Syaoran dreamed a prophetic dream, he didn't realize what it was. He'd thought it an expression of his great desire. He dreamt of Tokyo Tower, stark in the moonlight, and the Clow Cards ringed in the air.
The next morning, his mother told him the Seal had broken. He was going to Japan, the youngest but most powerful of her children.
The dream had faded with the dawn, but he felt an odd sense of deja vu to see Yue silhouetted against the iron bars of the tower, later.
ii. solo
He dreamed the night that they met Yue of a world in which she'd failed the Judgment, a world where he knew of no Cards-- and more importantly, no Sakura. He sat in lunch alone, scowling, and even Yamazaki didn't dare tell him tall tales. He walked home wondering why he'd bothered to come to Japan.
He woke gasping and absurdly thankful. Her smile floated across his mind.
He smiled a little too and went back to sleep.
iii. elegy
He dreamed, once, that she dissolved into flower petals, but that made no sense at all.
iv. coda
The day Eriol left, Syaoran dreamed of Clow. The man stretched impossibly tall against the starry dreamscape. He wore the same smile Eriol did, the one Syaoran had found so infuriating.
"You did a good job, Xiao Lang," Clow said.
He wanted to say he hadn't helped at all, but somehow he knew Clow would deny that just as Sakura had.
"Thank you," he answered, bowing low.
v. prelude
It was strange to see this doppelganger of Sakura, even though he'd been anticipating it. She was dressed in the clothing of his forebears and she looked so worried.
"You'll be all right," his Sakura said to her. He smiled a little at her, trying to be reassuring. Sakura handed over her staff without a qualm.
When the dream broke, she was holding his hand, her face pressed into his shoulder. She hadn't woken yet, so he sighed and squeezed her hand, letting himself drift back to sleep.
It wasn't the last time he dreamed of the other Sakura, but it was the most important.
