Excerpt: It was a shame, the Yeerk thought, that humans no longer had many kings.
It was a shame, the Yeerk thought, that humans no longer had many kings. Its host had an interest in history, and so for the past few days they had been pouring over old books in order to write a paper.
Kings murdered, bribed, fought, and-- most importantly-- commanded ultimate loyalty. It was amazed by the things that they got away with, simply because of "royal blood." Blood was all the same, the Yeerk knew. But it would have been a good illusion, if it had lasted.
It made a note to mention that to its superiors at the next chance-- maybe something could be done-- and went back to reading. (It was sort of fascinated, in spite of itself.)
