Excerpt: She isn't sure it's him; he could be someone else's legitimate child.
She only sees him once.
She didn't even know that Vanessa had moved to Dancing Elk, but she guesses it was cheaper than living in that huge house, especially since Mark had gone. She imagines Vanessa in a trailer, small but scrubbed, and she smiles. Vanessa would do the best she could. She'd been a good choice.
The kid has Bleeker's eyes and her nose. At least, that's what Juno thinks. She isn't sure it's him; he could be someone else's legitimate child. He did have Bleek's knobbly knees, though.
She pauses, her hand on the chainlink fence, and watches him play, but only for a moment.
She doesn't regret it, even now.
