Excerpt: Originally he just wanted to get this done, to go home, to return to his black-and-white world and be Kurogane, in service to Princess Tomoyo. But now his black and white has all these gray spots in it.

Kurogane sees things in black and white. All soldiers do. He is a man in service to the princess Tomoyo. Therefore, his loyalties are solely to her.

Except now, when he feels obligated to help the kid out, because he was trying very much, and he needs his help. And the other princess must also be protected, because the Tomoyo they met loved her, and he has the feeling that his Tomoyo-hime would love her too. And he has to protect the stupid magician or he'll kill himself, one way or the other.

He has a family with them, and that makes things much more complicated than a soldier's life should be. Especially if Fai continues to call himself "Mommy."
