He loved her more than he loved Clow.
Kero wasn't in the habit of adding things up (that was his brother's department, measuring out every little annoyance, pleasure, and happening as if everything would come to even some day and he could die). But still he knew he loved her more.
There was something about Sakura that was, to be honest, more lovable. Perhaps it was that Clow was his creator-- his father-- and she was more like a sister. More like... a lover. But not in any gross way, Kero wasn't really interested in sex, but it was the intimacy of the thing. They took baths together. She trusted him-- more than once-- with her life.
Sometimes he looked at that little pink key and just grinned. Clow had known, he thought. Maybe his death had been more of a beginning than an ending, the chance to try something new.
A chance, in fact, to fall in love. That soppy old romantic would have died ten times over to give his guardians that. He was a dork like that. He said it was the pinnacle of existence-- falling in love.
Kero was pretty happy to exist, all considering.
