Excerpt: Thirteen smiled. Cameron cast around for her name. She remembered meeting the fellow; House had sardonically introduced her as yes, the new Cameron, but what was her name? Cameron smiled politely.

"He told me, one time, that he just hired me to replace you, but I didn't realize how much alike we were."

The voice interrupted Cameron's thoughts. She'd been staring into her drink, half-wondering why she and Chase had broken up, and hating herself for bringing up the very thing she was here to get over. She turned swiftly to meet green eyes.

Thirteen smiled. Cameron cast around for her name. She remembered meeting the fellow; House had sardonically introduced her as yes, the new Cameron, but what was her name? Cameron smiled politely.

"What do you mean?" she asked, avoiding names altogether. Thirteen knew who she was, obviously. She didn't need to introduce herself.

"I didn't realize that you were bisexual too," Thirteen said, sliding onto the bar stool next to Cameron. Cameron looked down at her glass self-consciously and stirred it with the little paper umbrella.

"'M not," she mumbled. "Just wanted to be left alone."

"A girl bar is not the best place for someone as pretty as you to be left alone," Thirteen said, lifting her eyebrows. "A gay bar, maybe. Even then you'll probably out the bisexual men."

"Hmph," Cameron said, staring pointedly into her drink and away from Thirteen.

"Do you need a ride home? I was designated driver, but then my friend found herself a cute girl to catch a ride with and I spotted you over here alone."

"'M not looking for a girlfriend," Cameron said.

"Neither am I," Thirteen said easily. "Just thought I'd talk to the woman whose footsteps I am expected to fill. Are you really that empathic?"

"Who did you ask-- Foreman or House?"

Thirteen shrugged. "Both."

"Not really," Cameron said softly. "I just cared more than either of them did. They tried to see it as a woman thing instead of a doctor thing."

"They do have a tendency to do that, those misogynists," Thirteen replied, rolling her eyes. She jingled her keys thoughtfully.

"Sure you don't want a ride? Dr. Chase isn't worth a car wreck, you know. He's a major jerk."

"I'll drink to that," Cameron replied, downing her shot, and following Thirteen out the door.
