Excerpt: It warmed his heart to see that Eriol thought of him as a family member. It made him feel a little less lonely.

Generally Fujitaka let Sakura get the mail. The little chore gave her such joy, since she waited every day for a letter from Syaoran. He rarely got anything in the mail, in any case, beyond credit-card applications and bills.

So when Sakura danced into the kitchen one afternoon, clutching one letter, he was unsurprised. But he was surprised when she handed him another. She smiled.

"Eriol-kun has sent us letters!"

She dashed upstairs to read her own and Fujitaka stared down at the envelope in his hand. His address was neatly inked in a handwriting eerily similar to his own. Bemused, he slit the envelope and pulled the page out.

Dear Fujitaka-san,

I thought perhaps it would be nice to write to you to make sure that you and your wife are getting along all right. I thought the magic was balanced enough to allow proper interaction. It should be. Everyone deserves little happinesses.

I hope that dear Sakura is well, and that you are taking this revelation of her magic as a sign of her strength, and not something to fear. But I know you are a smart father, given the genes we share, and I am sure you welcome the future as much as I.

I hope to visit you and Sakura at some point in the future. It would be nice to get to know you. We are, after all, relatives of a sort. It is always nice to have family, isn't it?

Hoping to hear from you soon,
Hiiragizawa Eriol

Fujitaka sat down at the table and read the letter over again, his eyes catching on that simple phrase-- we are relatives. He'd struggled growing up with the fact that he had no family; that was why he took such care in building his own. It warmed his heart to see that Eriol thought of him as a family member. It made him feel a little less lonely. With his Nadeshiko back and all secrets laid bare, Fujitaka was finding that his family became more wonderful every day.

He hummed under his breath as he reached into his desk drawer to locate a paper and pen. He sat down at the table and had barely began to write before Sakura blew back into the room.

"Late for practice!" she said, harried, and then noticed what he was doing, and she smiled brightly. "Maybe we'll send our letters together?"

"Of course," her father said, and watched her go before he set pen to paper again.
