Summary/Notes/Warnings: Nadeshiko was an unlikely woman, and it worked for her.
Sonomi tried to present her with the statistics.
"Early marriages like these don't last," she said, flipping her hair, like she always did when she was angry. "He'll leave you for another young girl, mark my words, and you'll be all alone!"
Statistics meant nothing to Nadeshiko. She left her husband long before either of them wanted that, and he loved her much longer than statistics would have predicted.
And poor Sonomi, who married a man at a responsible age who was only one year her senior, Sonomi, who had given in to conventions, hadn't stopped to consider other possibilities--Sonomi was left alone, with only her daughter for comfort. Would statistics have predicted the girl's unearthly resemblance to Nadeshiko?
Sometimes Nadeshiko came to Sonomi after she had been crying, and spent time with her in her dreams. Statistics said that life after death was impossible--for no one had been contacted beyond the grave--
But then again, statistics meant nothing to the first girl who knew everything would be all right.
