In the dining room, Zuko heard Sokka's giggle, and then the accompanying amusement of the children, and she'd long since learned that usually that was a dangerous sign, so she hurried a little into the room, cursing the amount of time it took for the maids to do her hair for formal functions, such as tonight's gala celebrating ten years since she had become the Fire Lady.

"Oh, hello," Sokka said, and he looked nervous for a moment, which was an even worse sign, but he seemed like he was going to try to sail through it, holding up this morning's news sheet and pointing to a front page article.

"Your political opponents are trying to say that you can't focus on running the country and my terrible half-blood children," he said, trying to seem casual; "It's like they don't understand that your brain doesn't reside in your... you know" (and the children giggled again); Zuko was a little less amused, but then again, this was the ten year anniversary after a decade of increased peace and prosperity, and politicians would be politicians, so after a moment, she forced a laugh.
